UPDATE: 1 Dead, 2 In Serious Condition After I-75 Accident

This accident happened Monday, March 9, at 8:35 AM.

Update posted on Tuesday, March 10th, 5:44 a.m.:

The Florence Police Department has identified the individual who was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident as Joshua A. Jones, 34, of Mason, OH.

Jones was the driver of the utility pickup truck prior to the collision with the tractor trailer. He was standing outside of his vehicle at the time of the accident.

 

Original story posted Monday, March 9th, 12:31 p.m.:

(Florence, Ky.) - A collision involving a tractor trailer, a utility pickup truck, and a passenger vehicle turned deadly this morning. 

The Florence Police Department received a report of an accident on I-75 South at the 177.4 mile marker at 8:35 AM. 

Following an initial investigation, the FPD says that the utility pickup and passenger vehicle had stopped on the right shoulder of I-75 South after the two vehicles were involved in a minor traffic collision.

A tractor trailer traveling on I-75 South hit both vehicles and two of the vehicles’ occupants who were standing outside.  

One person has been confirmed dead from this accident.  

Two individuals involved were taken to UC Hospital. One is listed in critical condition while the other is in serious but stable condition. 

The names of the deceased and injured parties are being withheld pending notification of family members.  

An ongoing investigation is being held by the Florence Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.
