(New Castle, Ind.) – A tournament featuring four of the best girls basketball programs in the state will round out the year of 2022.

The Hall of Fame Classic takes place Thursday, December 29 at the iconic New Castle Fieldhouse.

East Central is one of four teams in the field.

Teams must apply to be picked to play at the Hall of Fame Classic. Lady Trojans head coach Kevin Moore told Eagle Country during last week’s edition of Crunch Time that his team made it to the final six of the application process a season ago but were not picked.

This season, the Lady Trojans are in the field of four and will take on the defending 4A state champion Noblesville at 11:30 a.m. Mishawaka Marian and #4 Bedford North Lawrence will play the first game at 10:00.

The losers will play in the third-place game at 6:00 p.m. followed by the championship game at 7:30.

“Playing the defending 4A state champ is certainly a game we’ve had highlighted and on that stage at New Castle, it’s a game that everyone will be watching,” said Coach Moore.

Have to apply to be picked. Applied last year made to final six and didn’t get picked.

Trojans fans planning to attend the event are asked to purchase tickets through the East Central Athletic Department. East Central had to purchase tickets in advance and only get reimbursed for tickets they sell in advance.

Fans can purchase tickets the day of the event at the door, but East Central will not get credit for the ticket sale(s).

Tickets for the Hall of Fame Classic may be purchased through the EC Athletic Department at any home girls or boys game, or during the school day.

“It will be important to have our youth teams there, our community there, our middle school kids there because it’s a 14-year process that got us there, and when we took the program over, Coach Johnson and I and a couple other coaches at that time, we were four or five years removed from not winning a game. To fast forward and see where we are at now, it’s certainly a proud moment. We’re not just going up there to be on the schedule, we’re going up there to compete and win,” said Coach Moore.
