Harrison's Schafer Wins 5K Run, Osgood's Pohle Takes 5-Miler at Lauren's Burg Hill

All proceeds from the event support Lauren's Fight for Cure.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Over 200 people flocked to downtown Lawrenceburg on Saturday to support Lauren's Fight for Cure. 

The 10th annual Lauren's Burg Hill 5K and 5-Mile featured 241 runners and walkers. 

Eighty-two individuals braved the 5-Mile Run. 

Osgood native Joshua Pohle took first place in the 5-Mile Run. The 20-year-old finished the race in 28:45. Recent Milan High School graduate Ayden Potts finished in second place with a time of 30:24. Chayce Helms, of Harrison, placed third. 

The top three placing female competitors were Natalie Leverone (32:39, 5th), Lanie Nicholson (33:13, 7th), and Alisha Detmer (33:58, 8th)

An even 100 competitors took part in the 5K Run. 

Luke Shafer, 30, of Harrison, was the winner of the 5K Run with a time of 16:57. Larremy Gray, 41 of Cincinnati, and David Shuley, 55, of Fort Thomas, rounded out the top three. 

The top placing female competitor was Amber Detmer, of Patriot. She placed 12th overall.

The 5K Walk featured 59 participants. 

Kelly Moore was the overall winner of the 5K Walk. The Milford, Ohio native walked the race in 35:55. 

All proceeds raised from the event go to Lauren's Fight for Cure to assist children and families fighting DIPG, the deadliest form of childhood brain cancer.
