Harrison Softball Wins Conference Title; Williamson SWOC Athlete Of The Year

As a team, Harrison set a school record this year for the least number of strikeouts in a season with 72.

(Harrison, Oh.) – After a championship season, seven Harrison Lady Wildcats softball players have been recognized by the Southwest Ohio Conference.

 

The SWOC recently announced its All-Conference Teams, Athlete of the Year and Coach of the Year awards for the 2018 softball season.

 

Harrison’s Reagan Williamson was named the SWOC Athlete of the Year. Williamson won the conference’s Triple Crown with a .600 average, 9 home runs and 40 RBIs. The Lady Wildcats star also broke three school records, including walks (23), home runs and batting average. In 91 plate appearances, Williamson had zero strikeouts. Just a sophomore, Williamson is already verbally committed to play softball at Bowling Green State University.

Helping the cause were First Team All-SWOC selections Sami Wilkins and Paige Bemerer. Both were among the conference leaders in batting average and RBIs.

 

Making Second Team All-SWOC were Gillian Metzger and Emily Wisman. Lita Caruso was Honorable Mention, and Alyssa Ross was one of six players to earn the SWOC Sportsmanship Award.

 

Harrison won the SWOC Regular Season Championship with an 11-1 record. The Lady Wildcats finished the 2018 season with an 18-6 record overall after being knocked out of the postseason by Ursuline Academy.

 

Their stellar season netted Coach Mike Schiering SWOC Coach of the Year honors.
