(Versailles, Ind.) - Brad Goldsberry has been hired to take over the South Ripley High School girls varsity basketball program.

The South Ripley School Board approved the hire earlier this week.

Goldsberry takes over for Matt McNew, who led the program for the past five seasons. In that time, McNew led the Lady Raiders to four winnings seasons and an overall record of 58-49.

South Ripley has had great success in recent years, winning three consecutive sectional titles in 2021, 2022, and 2023, two ORVC titles in 2022 and 2023, and two Ripley County Tournament championships in 2022 and 2024.

Goldsberry will look to continue that success this winter with a young squad.

The Lady Raiders graduated 64 percent of their offense with the departures of Reese Obendorf (11.3 PPG), Lydia Cornett (7.3 PPG), Morgan Brightwell (5.9 PPG), and Suzie Gunter (4.1 PPG).

Sophomore Claire Samples and senior Lexi Franklin are both expected to return. They tied as the team’s second-leading scorer last season at 8.7 points per game.

Aubrey Werner and Emily Parks will be looking at increased roles after contributing as sophomores.
