After Trojan Trot 5K, Loinchinger Siblings Still Lead SIRC-it Standings

The Trojan Trot 5K was held Saturday in St. Leon.

(St. Leon, Ind.) – Ean Loichinger may run away with the 2018 Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit men’s title.

The 14-year-old from Batesville was the overall winner at the Trojan Trot 5K in St. Leon on Saturday, July 14. He completed the 3.1 mile run in 16:43, comfortably ahead of second place finisher Jeremiah Vaughan, 28, of Brookville, at 17:06.

The Trojan Trot was the second of five races in the SIRC-it. Loichinger also won the opening race in Milan on July 7. His combined time after two races is 33:03, nearly five minutes ahead of second place Dwayne Steele, 40, of Seymour.

His sister, Elizabeth Loichinger won the Indian Trails 5K opener, but she was second among females competing in St. Leon. The female winner was South Ripley High School’s Megan Cole, 17, at 19:33 – good for seventh overall. Loichinger was 20th overall with a time of 21:52.

Cole did not compete in the first SIRC-it race, which has her out of the running for this year’s circuit title. Loichinger’s total time of 42:27 has her first among runners who have been in the first two races. Emilee Wedding, 16, of Lawrenceburg, is second at 43:36.

113 competitors ran in the Trojan Trot 5K. Find full results at Stuart Road Racing’s website.

The next SIRC-it stop is the Lakeside 5K in Brookville on Saturday, July 21 at 8:30 a.m.
