(Wilmington, Oh.) – The first snow of the fall is expected to come down over the next 24 hours.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of the tri-state area. Counties under the advisory include Franklin, Ripley, Dearborn and Ohio counties in Indiana, Carroll, Gallatin, Boone and Kenton counties in Kentucky, and Hamilton County, Ohio.

The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7:00 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, one to three inches of snow is expected.

Rain is expected to mix with then change to snow today. Snow accumulations will be mainly confined to grassy and elevated surfaces as pavement and air temperatures will start out above freezing.

As temperatures drop below freezing, slick spots will develop on untreated surfaces.

Motorists are urged to slow down and use extra caution while traveling.
