Hamilton County Sheriff's Office

(Whitewater Township, Oh.) - A Whitewater Township man is accused of threatening to shoot police.

Late Friday night, David Hermes called 911 to report that he was barricaded in a home on Sterwerf Drive and was preparing to shoot himself. Hermes, 46, said he was distraught over a recent breakup up with his girlfriend.

He allegedly told dispatchers he would shoot any police who tried to enter his home and that he was armed with a large amount of ammunition.

Deputies arrived at the scene and were told by neighbors that Hermes was actually inside another nearby home. Police entered and found him unarmed.

Hermes was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor Aggravated Menacing and felony Inducing Panic by Threatening Violence.

Hermes was held on $50,000 bond but has since been released from the Hamilton County Justice Center.
