Weekend Events Washed Out By Rain

The Taste of Harrison could be rescheduled.

(Harrison, Oh.) – What should have been a weekend full of fun events ended up getting washed out by the remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon.

Non-stop rain fell in the tri-state starting Friday evening and continuing through Sunday evening.

In addition to soccer and football games, local events that were nixed by the rain included the Sunman Fall Fest and Parade and The Taste of Harrison. Natasha Bischoff with the Sunman Area Chamber of Commerce says Sunman Fall Fest will not be made up.

The committee organizing the Taste of Harrison says they are working to see if the event can be rescheduled. A statement from the committee:

We have decided to postpone the Taste of Harrison due to the inclement weather. We will be in touch with the vendors this following week to see what dates are available to them, as well as city departments, distributors, musicians, volunteers, etc. In the event that we can secure a date that works for the majority, we will reschedule the event. Please be patient with us as we try to navigate through this. While we do our best to cover all the bases we cannot predict the weather.

Thank you again for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Taste of Harrison Committee

Another Harrison event, the City-Wide Yard Sale, has been postponed until next Saturday, September 15. It will run from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Harrison Community Center, 300 George Street.

The St. Lawrence Parish Knights of Columbus Council No. 1231 could not hold their Soccer Challenge on Sunday. It will now take place on Tuesday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lawrenceburg-Greendale Soccer Club fields.

In Indianapolis, the NASCAR Brickyard 400 race and FGL Fest concert at Indianapolis Motor Speedway were doused by rain.

FGL Fest was canceled Saturday. IMS says all FGL Fest tickets purchased online through Ticketmaster, IMS, LiveNation, or FLGFest.com will be refunded. Meanwhile, NASCAR will attempt to run the Brickyard 400 on Monday.

Here is the official statement from IMS:

We deeply regret to announce that today’s FGL Fest at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been cancelled. This decision was made after a comprehensive review of current and forecasted weather conditions, and with the safety of event attendees as our top priority.

All concert tickets purchased online thru Ticketmaster.com, IMS.com, FGLFest.com or LiveNation.com or at the IMS ticket office will be refunded. If tickets were bought with a credit card, a credit will be issued to the account used for the purchase. Credits will be issued from the point-of-sale vendor tickets were purchased from. If purchased in any other method you must go to the point of purchase for the refund.
