Get ready for four days of fun on the Square.
(Versailles, Ind.) – The annual Versailles Pumpkin Show returns Wednesday, September 25 through Saturday, September 28.
The event will be held on the Ripley County Courthouse Square.
Festivities include the King and Queen Contest, Prince & Princess Contest, Pie Eating Contest, Battle on the Border Pro Wrestling, Giant Pumpkin Weighing and Awards, amusement rides, parade, food trucks and more.
Last year, Jim Gunther, of Corydon, set a new Pumpkin Show record for the largest pumpkin (1,765 lbs.).
This year, amusements will be provided by Jessop Amusements. There will be four ticket kiosks to purchase single night wrist band or digital credits. Individual ride credits will be put on a plastic card that the rider will scan each time when entering a ride.
The live music lineup features Faith Lafary, Rachel Holt, Goose on the Roof, Josh Wells, Mr. T’s Mohawk, Texas Star, Safe in the Harbor, Jordan Dermody and Dermody Lane, and Sunday Drive.
The Versailles Pumpkin Show Parade will take place on Saturday, September 28 at 10:30 a.m. Participants are asked to be there by 9:00. The is no fee to enter.

Alfred H. Beer staged the first Pumpkin Show in October of 1899, where Geo W. Watkins, of Elrod, won a gold-filled watch for the heaviest pumpkin at 74 pounds, five ounces.
