Versailles Man Found Guilty Of Multiple Drug-Related Charges

A three-day jury trial was held last week in Ripley County Superior Court.

(Versailles, Ind.) – A Versailles man has been found guilty of multiple drug-related charges.

Gabriel “Eddie” Seitz, 29, was in Ripley County Superior Court last week for a three-day jury trial. On November 8, he was found guilty of Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 6 Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Syringe (Level 6 Felony), Possession of Marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor) and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor).

At trial, the State called officers from the Indiana State Police and Versailles Police Department as witnesses. The officers explained that Seitz was found in possession of the illegal drugs at a home just south of Pangburn Park in Versailles.

Among the items found were nearly five grams of crystal meth, heroin, numerous controlled substances, syringes and other drug paraphernalia.

Seitz will be sentenced on December 3.

He faces six months to 2 ½ years behind bars for each Level 6 Felony and up to 240 days total for the misdemeanor charges.

Prosecutor Ric Hertel made the following statement regarding the case:

“Drugs continue to be a significant issue that affects nearly every facet of our community. My office will continue to address our county’s drug problem head-on. We’re encouraged with the jury’s finding of guilt on all counts.”
