(Dearborn County, Ind.) - The vendor who sold Dearborn County its brand new ballot scanning machines has apologized for problems in the machines’ first election last week.
Omaha, Nebraska-based Election Systems & Software had a representative address Dearborn County Commissioners on Tuesday. He said batteries in the county’s 45 new ballot scanners were supposed to last up to eight years, however most died within just a couple months.
The company says none of its other clients experienced the same battery problem.
The Dearborn County Board of Elections could discuss the matter further when it meets on Friday, May 18.
Despite the technical issue with the ballot scanning machines, both Republican and Democrat leaders in Dearborn County believe the vote tally is accurate.
