Various Traffic Impacts Scheduled on I-71/75 Near Brent Spence Bridge

Crews will be performing soil boring work ahead of the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project

(Covington, Ky.) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of upcoming traffic impacts for scheduled boring work along Interstates 71/75 in Kenton County beginning Monday, July 14. Crews will be collecting soil samples in various areas in anticipation of the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project.

Tentative Schedule of Work

  • Monday, July 14
    • I-71/75 northbound right lane closure between 188.3 and 190 mile points.
    • I-71/75 southbound left lane closure between 190.9 and 192 mile points
  • Tuesday, July 15
    • I-71/75 southbound right shoulder closure near the 189.8 mile point.
    • I-71/75 southbound exit off-ramp to Pike Street will be CLOSED between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. (I-71/75 southbound collector/distributor: 191.08 to 190.96 mile points)
  • Wednesday, July 16
    • I-71/75 southbound right shoulder closure near the 189.8 mile point.
    • I-71/75 southbound exit off-ramp to Pike Street will be CLOSED between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. (I-71/75 southbound collector/distributor: 191.08 to 190.96 mile points)
  • Thursday, July 17
    • I-71/75 southbound right shoulder closure near the 189.8 mile point.
    • I-71/75 southbound exit off-ramp to Pike Street will be CLOSED between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. (I-71/75 southbound collector/distributor: 191.08 to 190.96 mile points)
  • Friday, July 18
    • I-71/75 southbound right shoulder closure near the 189.8 mile point.
    • I-71/75 southbound right shoulder closure on exit on-ramp from Pike Street (U.S. 25).
    • I-71/75 southbound exit off-ramp to Pike Street will be CLOSED between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. (I-71/75 southbound collector/distributor: 191.08 to 190.96 mile points)

NOTE: for tentative schedule of work listed above -- motorists should expect lane/ramp closures between the evening/overnight hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., and  the listed shoulder closures between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. 

Message boards will be in place warning motorists of the upcoming lane/shoulder/ramp closures on I-71/75. Detour signage will be placed for the I-71/75 southbound Pike Street nightly exit ramp closure from Tuesday, July 15 through Friday, July 18.

DETOUR (from Ohio): I-71/75 southbound to Fifth Street (KY 8) exit. Turn left on to Fifth Street. Turn left on Main Street. Turn left on W. Fourth Street. Follow W. Fourth Street to the I-71/75 southbound ramp. Access to Pike Street (U.S. 25) and the Texas Turnaround will be maintained at all times.

Project schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances
