Utility Scam Alert Issued for LMU Customers

If you suspect a phone scam, hang up and call your local police department.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Lawrenceburg Municipal Utilities has been notified of a potential UTILITY SCAM ALERT.  

Residents have received a call from scammers impersonating a utility company partner stating their utility account is past due and service will be interrupted for non-payment. Individual is then directed to an alternative site to make a payment or to call a number back for assistance.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THIS IS A UTILITY SCAM ALERT! DO NOT ARRANGE TO MEET INDIVIDUALS FOR UTILITY PAYMENTS OR CALL PHONE NUMBER BACK AS REQUESTED BY SCAMMER. DO NOT MAKE UTILITY PAYMENTS AT A LOCATION OTHER THAN LAWRENCEBURG MUNICIPAL UTILITIES LOCATED AT 230 WALNUT ST., LAWRENCEBURG IN 47025.  NEVER GIVE PERSONAL ACCOUNT INFORMATION OR GIVE CREDIT CARD/DEBIT CARD ACCOUNT NUMBERS OVER THE PHONE TO MAKE A UTILITY PAYMENT.

Lawrenceburg Municipal Utilities (LMU) will never direct customers to a location other than Lawrenceburg Municipal Utilities to make payments for utility bills.  LMU will never ask for credit or debit card account numbers for utility payments over the phone. If LMU calls for a disconnection reminder, customers will receive available options to pay LMU utility bills included on-line at www.THINKLAWRENCEBURG.com or by calling 1-888-301-0730 anytime with Smart Hub Payment Options. Lawrenceburg Municipal Utility Payments are also accepted at the LMU Drive Thru available Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. (230 Walnut Street, Lawrenceburg IN 47025.)
