UPDATE: Lone Occupant of Guilford House Fire Dies

The fire also claimed the lives of three K-9's.

The lone occupant of a house fire in Guilford has passed away. 

Officials say Dawn Clark, 51, died on Wednesday at UC Medical Center. Clark was found unconscious at a home on Stonegate Drive on Monday afternoon. 

No other information has been provided at this time.

(Guilford, Ind.) - One person was injured, and multiple pets were killed in a house fire on Monday afternoon. 

St. Leon Fire Department responded to a call on the 6500 block of Stonegate Drive around 2:39 p.m. for a smoke alarm going off in a residence. 

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found heavy smoke and heat coming from the residence. Crews quickly extinguished a fire in the living room area. 

During a primary search of the residence, a lone female occupant was found unconscious. The victim was transported to an area hospital and was later transferred to UC Medical Center. Her condition is unknown at this time. 

According to St. Leon Fire, there were no other occupants in the home at the time of the fire, but three deceased K-9's were located. 

The home sustained heavy smoke damage. 

A cause of the fire is being investigated by the Indiana Fire Marshal's Office. 

St. Leon Fire was assisted at the scene by Bright Fire, Miller York Fire, Harrison Fire and EMS, the Dearborn County Sheriff's Office, and the Indiana Fire Marshal's Office.
