UPDATE: I-71 In Gallatin County Down To Single Lane Again Wednesday

Crews are continuing to clean up a crash that shut down the interstate on Monday night.

Update published Wednesday at 9:44 a.m.: 

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists that the I-71 southbound near the 62.5 mile-marker will be reduced to a single lane again on Wednesday, Feb. 3, so that crews can complete the removal of a tanker truck that was involved in a crash late Monday night.

The lane closure will begin at 10 a.m. and crews hope to be finished by 2 p.m. 

Motorists should expect delays.

 

Original story published Tuesday at 10:31 a.m.:

(Gallatin County, Ky.) – A crash is impacting traffic on Interstate 71 in Gallatin County.

The crash was reported at the 62.5-mile marker near Glencoe around 10:00 p.m. Monday. According to the Gallatin County Sheriff's Department, a semi went over an embankment, leaving many debris in the roadway. 

Interstate 71 southbound was closed for several hours following the crash. 

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says I-71 southbound will be reduced to a single lane this morning so crews can remove a tanker truck that was involved in the crash. 

Emergency responders estimate three hours for the truck to be removed. 

Motorists can expect delays.

No other information has been released at this time.
