United Way's New CEO Will Tour Tri-State

Michael Johnson embarks on a 10-stop tour of "Community United" events as UWGC prepares for its fall campaign.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - United Way of Greater Cincinnati is preparing to launch its fall campaign.

The area United Way’s new president and CEO, Michael Johnson, will be visiting each of the 10 counties in the region for “Community United” events.

“At United Way, we unite communities by using our lives to change the lives of others,” Johnson said. “I’m excited to take part in these events and live that idea, not just in the impact we make, but also through the people we meet, the conversations we have and the places where we spend our time.”

The tour will start Thursday, August 16 at Roh's Street Cafe, 245 West McMillan Street, in Cincinnati from 7:30 until 9:00 p.m.

Johnson visits Boone County on Saturday, August 18 when he will meet folks at Velocity Bike & Bean, 7560 Burlington Pike, in Florence from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m.

Johnson will be at the Levee Bar and Grill, 51 Walnut Street, in Lawrenceburg on Wednesday, August 22 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

He makes his Ohio County stop on Friday, August 24 from 4:00 until 5:30 p.m. at Main Street Diner, 228 Main Street, in Rising Sun.

“He is very interested in meeting as many folks from our community as possible and learning about our community,” says Karen Snyder, director of UWGC Southeast Indiana.

Johnson said he’ll also show up in places like recreation centers, barbershops, places of worship and more to talk about United Way’s work throughout the year. To learn more about United Way, visit www.uwgc.org.

The United Way says nearly 100,000 tri-state families are living in poverty and struggling to make ends meet. Earlier this year, United Way announced a new investment model and new approaches to work with its 140 partners to lift people out of poverty.
