Tornado Activity Reported In Tri-State

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A line of strong storms packing a serious punch blew through the tri-state Friday afternoon and early evening.

 

There were unconfirmed tornado touchdowns between 3:30 and 4:30 in Vevay, West Harrison, Harrison (OH), Holton, Burlington (KY). Listeners tell us homes appear to be badly damaged and vehicles overturned in Holton in western Ripley County, where 100 MPH were reported at one time.

Debris was seen falling from the sky in Aurora and Rising Sun.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado warning until 4:45 p.m. for Campbell County, Boone County, Grant County, Clermont County, Kenton County, Dearborn County, Franklin County, and Ripley County. A Tornado Watch will remain in effect for the entire tri-statea until 9:00 p.m.

The serious storms have cancelled a number of Friday evening events:

 

-Lawrenceburg Community Schools - Students held for late dismissal until Tornado Warning expires at 4:45 p.m. Also St. Lawrence School.

-Northern Kentucky University - Evening classes cancelled

-Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools - Evening activities cancelled

-South Ripley High School - boys basketball sectional cancelled Friday.

-Greensburg High School - boys basketball sectional delayed Friday. TBA.
