A celebration, hosted by The United Way, took place Friday morning at Hamline Chapel in Lawrenceburg. Dearborn County Commissioner Jim Thatcher was on hand to read a proclamation officially declaring September 20, 2024, as Jim Scott Day.

"We thank everyone for being here today to honor Jim through some kind words, some cool things, and some volunteerism, which was very near and dear to his heart," said Jill Timon, United Way Action Council President.

A part of today's festivities included assembling Literacy Kits for 2–3-year-olds throughout the community to help them with their school readiness. The event also featured Benediction by Reverand Ryan Goode, lunch, and Memorial Book presentation to Jim’s widow.
