Local linemen worked through the weekend to get all homes and businesses back on the grid.
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Electric line crews worked through the weekend, but they finally have everybody in Eagle Country with service.
Southeastern Indiana REMC says the final outages were restored Sunday evening. Some of those homes had been without electricity since last Thursday morning’s ice storm.
Immediately after the storm, about 16,000 REMC customers were left in the dark.
Duke Energy is also reporting virtually all customers in southeastern Indiana, southwestern Ohio, and northern Kentucky have service once again. Nearly 186,000 Duke customers in Indiana experienced a power outage as a result of the ice storm
Duke Energy says all customers who sustained damaged to their meter boxes should get them repaired. Information explaining meter box damage is available at duke-energy.com/outages/meter-damage. A damaged meter box may be the reason why a customer does not have power while their neighbor does. If the meter box is pulled away from the house and the house still has power, the customer should call an electrician to re-attach the meter box.
