UPDATE: Temporary Repair Until US 50 Depression Can Be Fixed

INDOT says a possible pipe failure caused a depression in the right lane of U.S. 50 Eastbound near Front Street.

The right lane of eastbound U.S. 50 near Front Street has temporarily reopened in Lawrenceburg. The lane was closed earlier Friday due to a depression that formed at the surface of the road, possibly because of a pipe failure under the roadway.

The depression has been capped with a steel plate until necessary repairs can be completed.

 

Original story published at 10:00 a.m.:

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A temporary lane closure is in place on eastbound U.S. 50 in Lawrenceburg.

The Indiana Department of Transportation say the right lane of eastbound U.S. 50 is closed near Front Street due to a possible pipe failure under the roadway.

A depression at the surface of the road near Front Street appeared earlier today and will be covered by a steel plate while further investigation takes place.

Crews are currently working to locate underground utilities and devise a plan for possible repairs.

Indiana State Police are on site to assist with traffic.

It is unknown how long the lane will be closed.
