(Greendale, Ind.) – A Taylor High School graduate was killed while attempting to push a disabled vehicle on Thursday night.

The accident took place around 7:30 p.m. on U.S. 50 near Green Comm Drive in Greendale.

Indiana State Police’s initial investigation indicated that Lee Thomas, 19, of Cleves, was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 when his vehicle became disabled in the roadway.

Thomas exited the vehicle and was attempting to push it from the rear while his 15-year-old passenger was steering from the driver’s seat.

While trying to push the vehicle, Thomas was struck from behind by a westbound vehicle driven by Edward Brueggman, 76, of Lawrenceburg.

Thomas’ vehicle was then pushed into the path of an eastbound vehicle.

As a result of the collision, Thomas sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brueggman and the juvenile were treated for minor injuries.

Toxicology results are pending, although alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the collision.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Thomas' family. A link can be found below.
