Sunman Man Identified as Victim in Fatal ORV Crash

The accident took place Tuesday on North Dearborn Road.

(Sunman, Ind.) – A 63-year-old from Sunman has been identified as the victim of a fatal off-road vehicle accident.

Indiana Conservation Officers responded to the crash shortly after 8:00 p.m. Tuesday near the 10800 block of North Dearborn Road.

The initial investigation shows that Thomas Klump was operating a side-by-side ORV on the roadway when he overcorrected causing the machine to roll.

Klump was ejected from the vehicle and became pinned underneath. On scene lifesaving efforts were attempted, but Klump was pronounced deceased.

Indiana Conservation Officers say no seat belts, helmets, or safety equipment were used at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation and the official cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.
