(Ohio County, Ind.) - Ohio County parents contemplating summer child care may be glad to know that Rising Sun-Ohio County Schools are bringing back summer camp.

The school corporation hosted a free summer camp for the first time last summer. Superintendent Branden Roeder says the free summer camp service will return this summer thanks to a 21st Century Community Learning grant.

The camp is open to any currently enrolled student in kindergarten through 5th grade or children entering pre-K next school year.

Summer camp will run 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 3 through July 26.

The Rising Sun-Ohio County Schools summer camp includes bus service, pool and library visits, and field trips.

“Activities will include, but are not limited to, field trips every Tuesday and Thursday, community pool days every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, social play activities, the Ohio County Library summer reading program, Ohio County Parks Department excursions, and much more. Tuesday field trips consist of outings to the free movies at Greendale Cinemas followed by play time at a community park. Thursday field trips consist of trips to the Krohn Conservatory, Shawnee Lookout, Cincinnati Children’s Museum, Miami Whitewater Forest, Embschood Woods, and many more,” according to the school district’s announcement.
