(Batesville, Ind.) - Batesville Products, Inc. (BPI) recently hosted Rising Sun High School, Lawrenceburg High School, and Manchester Elementary School students.
Students toured the facility to learn about engineering, casting, machining, inspection, and polishing. They were particularly interested in new technologies in the manufacturing industry, such as Finite Element Analysis and BPI’s sawing and polishing robots. But their excitement didn’t end with the tour; students took home hands-on casting activities to simulate the permanent mold aluminum casting process.
“We can’t thank you enough for your flexibility and allowing our students to see firsthand how products are made,” said Mary Bailey, Principal of Manchester Elementary School. “It looks like great things are happening at BPI with the addition of new robots. It’s definitely a hidden gem!”
These field trips were some of BPI’s many celebrations for Manufacturing Day, a national, annual event to showcase modern manufacturing and generate interest in manufacturing careers.
Batesville Products also celebrated Manufacturing Day with an employee lunch and t-shirts. This year’s Manufacturing Day was extra special, as it coincided with BPI’s 75th anniversary as a family-owned casting foundry.
