(Oldenburg, Ind.) - The Oldenburg Academy Innovation Council is closing in on a fundraising goal that will see them earn a 50-50 matching grant from the state as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority's My Community, My Vision program.

To date, the student group has raised $21,380 towards their $25,000 goal to beautify Maypole Heritage Park.

This campaign will collect all funds raised by Friday 28 at 11:45 p.m. If the $25,000 goal is met by that time, the Oldenburg Academy Innovation Council will receive a 50-50 matching grant.

The project aims to resurface basketball courts to make them multi-use courts for basketball and pickleball. It will also build a community fire pit with added seating and landscaping. The full scope of the project includes:

  • Resurface the basketball courts to make them safer and usable
  • Strip the courts for basketball and pickleball use
  • Purchase pickleball nets
  • Install a stone fire pit along with stamped concrete walkway
  • Purchase high quality, permanent outdoor seating for the fire pit
  • Provide landscaping and signage for the area
  • Provide bench seating around the courts
