Update: State Road 56 has reopened as of 5:00 p.m., according to Ohio County Dispatch.
(Ohio County, Ind.) – State Road 56 remains closed between Aurora and Rising Sun due to an accident that occurred Sunday night.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 7300 block of State Road 56 North for a single vehicle accident around 9:08 p.m.
According to a news release, Harold L. Fryer, 45, of Patriot, was ejected from his 1992 Chevrolet 1500 after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole head-on.
Fryer was airlifted from the scene to UC Medical Center. His current condition is unknown.
The accident remains under investigation.
According to Sheriff Potts, there is no ETA for reopening State Road 56. The utility department is working to make repairs on the damaged electric pole.
Ohio County EMS, Rising Sun Fire, Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office, and Aurora Police assisted at the scene.
