(Versailles, Ind.) – A new state representative for House District 67 has been decided.

On Monday night at the Ripley County Courthouse Annex, J. Alex Zimmerman won the caucus to fill the vacancy left by Randy Frye (R-Greensburg).

Zimmerman beat out Deanna Burkart, Pamela Crozier and Lisa Seng Shadday to become Indiana’s newest state representative.

The caucus was presided over by Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer. Each candidate was given the opportunity to speak prior to voting.

Zimmerman received 26 of 49 votes to win the caucus.

He will serve portions of Decatur, Jefferson, Jennings and Ripley counties for the remainder of State Rep. Frye’s term (2023-24) following his retirement.

Frye resigned his position effective July 8, citing his wellbeing and focus on family as reasons for his departure. Frye served as a state representative for 13 years.

Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer released the following statement:

“Congratulations to J. Alex Zimmerman on his victory tonight to become Indiana’s newest state representative. Hoosiers in the district will be well represented by Alex, and we look forward to him joining the rest of the Republican caucus in the statehouse to deliver results for his constituents and the state of Indiana.”
