INDIANAPOLIS - State Rep. Alex Zimmerman (R-North Vernon) recently received appointments to serve on several key House standing committees, which will begin meeting during the 2024 legislative session kicking off in January.

Zimmerman, who took the oath of office in July, will serve on the House Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee, the House Roads and Transportation Committee, and the House Utilities, Energy, and Telecommunications Committee.

"Committee hearings are an important step in the lawmaking process, and as a freshman legislator, I look forward to serving and finding solutions for the issues facing Hoosiers," Zimmerman said. "I'm grateful for this opportunity and I'm committed to working hard on behalf of Southeast Indiana."

Zimmerman said committees are responsible for vetting bills, including hearing testimony and considering amendments.
