A Republican caucus selected the Sunman area resident to fill a position on county council.

(Ripley County, Ind.) - There is a new member on Ripley County Council.
The Ripley County Republican Party held a caucus on April 17 to fill a vacancy on Ripley County Council left by the resignation of Rob Seig.
Party chairwoman Ginger Bradford tells Eagle Country 99.3 that Sunman area resident Stan Wiedeman was unanimously selected by the caucus to replace Seig on the council.
Wiedeman has not held public office before. He ran for Ripley County Commissioner in 2014, but lost in the GOP primary election.
He serves as vice president on the Rising Sun Regional Foundation Board of Directors as an appointee of Batesville and Sunman.
Wiedeman will complete Seig's term, which runs through 2022.
