(Sunman, Ind.) – The St. Nicholas School 3rd grade class has earned an awesome prize for doing well in the classroom.

Principal Sherri Kirschner tells Eagle Country 99.3 that the 3rd grade class recently participated in the Indiana NCAA Read to the Final Four program.

The program started with 300 classes and was trimmed to 64 teams who competed in a head-to-head style tournament, like the NCAA Tournament.

St. Nicholas made it to the Elite 8 and earned a $1,000 scholastic gift card for their library to purchase new books with.

“We are so proud of our students. Every single one of them played a part in the amazing accomplishment,” said Kirschner. “The students enjoyed small prizes for each week they advanced and will have a pizza party before they leave for Spring Break.”
