Aurora location offers medication-assisted addiction treatment and therapy.

(Aurora, Ind.) - St. Elizabeth Physicians Journey Recovery Center — an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment center — has expanded its addiction treatment services to Southeast Indiana. The new Aurora, Indiana location is the second for St. Elizabeth Physicians Journey Recovery Center, which opened in 2017 in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

St. Elizabeth Physicians Journey Recovery Center – Aurora is located at 107 Bridgeway St., Aurora, Indiana. The Indiana location offers:

  • Medication-assisted treatment for substance-use disorders. The center provides buprenorphine, naloxone and vivitrol for patients with opioid-use disorder using the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation COR-12 facilitated therapy model.
  • Therapy services, including assessments to determine the severity of substance-use disorders as well as group and individual counseling with a licensed mental health counselor.

Journey Recovery Center – Aurora is staffed by St. Elizabeth Aurora internal medicine physicians Jack Freidel, MD and Patricia Freidel, DO, as well as Jeffrey Craven, a licensed professional counselor. Peer support services and career planning will also be available at the center.

Sara Mullins, director of operations for St. Elizabeth Physicians Behavioral Health & Addiction Medicine, says Aurora is an ideal location for Journey Recovery Center to expand services.

“The physicians at our Aurora internal medicine office already have experience with medication-assisted addiction treatment,” Mullins says. “Journey Recovery Center’s vision is a natural fit at this location.”

“The disease of addiction is real,” Mullins adds. “A 2020 report from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration found that 40.3 million Americans faced substance-use disorders. St. Elizabeth is dedicated to providing evidence-based 12-step facilitated treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy, and the wrap-around services and support necessary for recovery.”

The Journey Recovery Center team in Aurora sees patients Monday through Friday. Physician referrals are accepted, but not necessary. To schedule an appointment, call (859) 757-0717.
