(Aurora, Ind.) - Jake Steinmetz is a hero.
On Wednesday night, he sprung into action when a fan collapsed in the stands behind the South Dearborn bench area during the Knights boys varsity basketball game against East Central.
According to SD Athletics, Steinmetz performed CPR and used an AED secured by Assistant Principal Curt Bontrager to successfully revive the patient. He received help from Tara Cutter, who also administered CPR.
The patient, whose identity was not released, was transported to a local hospital where she was able to talk with family members.
Assisting at the scene was Aurora EMS, Aurora Police, Dearborn County Sheriff's Office, Hogan Fire and Lawrenceburg Medics.
The suspended game will resume on Tuesday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m. The game will continue with South Dearborn leading 46-31 with 5:53 left in the 4th quarter. Admission will be free.
