(West Harrison, Ind.) - An outpouring of support from parents and students has reportedly resulted in a local principal keeping her job.
Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate School principal Chris Vennemeier had been notified last month that her contract would not be renewed for next school year.
Last Thursday, dozens of parents and students made impassioned appeals to the school board as they implored the board to keep Vennemeier.
This week, Superintendent Dr. Jeff Hendrix and school board have backed off and will renew the principal’s contract, according to various sources.
Vennemeier and Hendrix did not return e-mails from Eagle 99.3 seeking comment Tuesday.
Vennemeier has been principal at the intermediate school since it opened in 2003. She was the Indiana Association of School Principals District 10 Principal of the Year in 2005.
