(Undated) - Southeastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission Director Susan Craig has been named a Distinguished Hoosier.
Craig received the prestigious award on Wednesday for her outstanding dedication and leadership.
The Distinguished Hoosier Award is one of the highest tributes given out by the State of Indiana to its citizens. It is sole granted at the discretion of the Governor to Hoosier who have uniquely brought admiration and respect to the state through their character and accomplishments.
Since 1985, Craig has played a key role in the development and implementation of over $44 million in local, state, federal and private funds for community and economic development projects. She has also been involved in over $148 million for hundreds of projects in the SIRPC area, which includes Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland counties.
Aside from her 40-plus years of service with SIRPC, Craig has played a role in many significant community development projects such as the Dearborn County YES Home, Jefferson County Clearinghouse and Madison Stellar.
Craig will be retiring from her position as director at the turn of the year.
She is expected to continue to assist SIRPC with projects as a consultant.
