(Dearborn County, Ind.) - The Dearborn County Sheriff's Office received a call on Tuesday night regarding a potential murder in Hidden Valley.

After investigation, the Sheriff's Office determined that the call was a hoax known as "swatting".

Swatting is the act of making a false report of an ongoing emergency to emergency services with the intention of triggering a large-scale law enforcement response, often involving a SWAT Team, at a specific location. This is done to harass, intimidate, or prank the targeted individual or location.

There is no immediate risk to anyone and the Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the origin of the call.
