Sheriff's Office ID's Victim of Fatal I-74 Crash Near St. Leon

(Dearborn County, Ind.) – The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal accident that took place on Saturday.

Deputies responded to the crash on Interstate 74 eastbound near St. Leon around 6:43 a.m.

The initial investigation shows that a 17-year-old driver was eastbound at a high rate of speed. The male driver failed to slow for the vehicle in front and rear ended the car, causing his vehicle to flip and slide on the roof for an extended amount of time.

A backseat passenger in the teen's vehicle, identified as Jack Visjager, 18, of Cincinnati, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No other major injuries were reported.

 No charges have been filed but the investigation is ongoing.
