Senate Candidate Mike Braun Supports Decision To Review Kavanaugh Allegations

Sexual assault allegation against the Supreme Court nominee came to light last week.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Shortly after Indiana U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly weighed in on allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, his Republican opponent Mike Braun has done the same.

Braun tweeted Wednesday that he supports Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley’s decision to have “11th hour” allegations thoroughly reviewed by the committee.

A woman has come forward to say Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her more than 30 years ago – a claim that Democrats learned in July but only made public last week following Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing. Kavanaugh has denied the allegations, which date back to when they were in high school.

A vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee was set for Thursday, but lawmakers from both parties are now calling for more time to review the woman’s allegations, including Donnelly.

Braun says he believes the allegations should be weighed against Kavanaugh’s decades of public service, sterling record on the bench, outstanding personal reputation and unequivocal denial of the allegations.

Kavanaugh and his accuser are scheduled to testify at hearing on Monday in Washington, D.C. The California woman accusing Kavanaugh of sexual assault reportedly won’t testify until the FBI investigates her claims.
