Sen. Maxwell Submits Road Renaming Request to Honor Sunman Native

State Reps. Bascom and Zimmerman also made road renaming requests.

INDIANAPOLIS - State Senator Randy Maxwell (R-Guilford) has submitted a request to rename a local road after an East Central High School graduate that tragically lost his life while serving in the military.

Maxwell presented his road renaming resolution to the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation last week.

The resolution would honor Private First Class Anthony "Tony" Seig by renaming the bridge over the East Fork of Tanners Creek on SR 46 in northern Dearborn County between Trackville Road and Legion Road.

The Sunman native was killed in action on September 9, 2006, at the age of 19, due to enemy indirect fire while serving in Baghdad, Iraq. Beyond his dedicated service with the 118th Military Police Company (Airborne), PFC Seig was a deeply creative individual, remembered by his mother, Linda, for his artistic talents, writing, and a sharp, uplifting sense of humor.

State Rep. Alex Zimmerman (R-North Vernon) presented two road renaming resolutions

One for William Omer Burkett at US 50 from Lake Dilldeer Road to CR S 750 E, and another for Kenneth Knowlton at State Road 350 in Ripley County, one half mile on either side of Old Mill Road (West of Milan).

State Rep. Garrett Bascom (R-Lawrenceburg) made a request to rename a local road after Don Henry. The exact road/area was not listed.
