SEI Principals Enter Leadership Training Program

Three local principals are in the two-year program of the Indiana Principal Leadership Institute.

(Undated) - Three southeastern Indiana principals have received advanced training in school leadership.

East Central High School’s Tom Black, Greendale Middle School’s Jayme Herbert, and Batesville Primary School’s Brad Stoneking are among 49 principals statewide chosen for this year’s cohort of the Indiana Principal Leadership Institute at Indiana State University’s Bayh College of Education.

The institute is a two-year experience designed to address the professional needs of Indiana public school principals with an emphasis on student success. The institute will increase a principal’s capacity to address the current needs of her or his school, such as effective instruction, student performance, community involvement and shaping a strong school culture.

The group, called Cohort No. 6, was guided by 11 trained mentors who are experienced Indiana school leaders. A regional cohort leader will be assigned to various regions of the state.

In addition to the targeted work with each cohort, IPLI is committed to serving as a resource for all Indiana principals, their schools and their school communities. This includes sharing research, providing access to leadership assessments and offering tools to develop action research plans.
