Robotic Surgery Coming to Dearborn County

The da Vinci Xi Robot will be on display this Thursday at St. Elizabeth Dearborn.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The first robot surgery in Dearborn County will take place Tuesday, Feburary 11 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn.

St. Elizabeth has performed more than 20,000 robotic surgeries, including the most da Vinci surgeries in the region. The da Vinci Xi Robot will be on display at St. Elizabeth Dearborn on Thursday, February 6 for the community to see from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In addition, General Surgeon Dr. Michael McAndrew will be on site to answer any questions people may have, along with Carolyn Reusch, Robotics Coordinator.

The robots help surgeons move patients from open procedures to minimally invasive procedures that require fewer, smaller incisions. This helps directly improve the patient experience due to less blood loss, less muscle tissue damage and less post-operation pain.

Robotic surgery is also designed to make hospital stays shorter and recovery time faster.
