30 “ready to ride” bicycles are located in Aurora and Lawrenceburg.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Spring has arrived, and River Cities Bike Share, the popular Southeast Indiana community bike share program, has returned for another season. The short-term bike rentals will be available starting April 1, with the program running through October.

Coordinated through both the City of Lawrenceburg and City of Aurora, the River Cities Bike Share features approximately 30 “ready to ride” bicycles located in both cities, as well as along Dearborn Trails, an outdoor trail system that runs through the region. Equipped with a locking mechanism, the bikes are housed at several docking sites throughout the community, and can be rented and reserved using a free downloadable app.

Each of the Shimano seven-speed bicycles are available on a ride-and-return basis. The cost to ride is $3 for the first hour and $2 for each additional hour. Users can use the bikes to travel between the region’s many shops, attractions and restaurants, or head for Dearborn Trails. The multi-use paved pathway follows the river in many places, offering on-and-off trailhead access at several points between Lawrenceburg, Aurora and Greendale.
