(Ripley County, Ind.) - A Ripley County councilman will leave his elected position just months after being elected.

Rob Seig has announced his resignation from Ripley County Council’s District 2 seat. He was elected to county council last November.

Seig, of Sunman, said in his resignation letter he and his family will be moving out of the county.

“This was not my plan originally when I decided to run for the position or even after the election,” Seig wrote.

Seig’s resignation will be effective Friday, April 5. He could not immediately be reached for comment Friday.

A Ripley County Republican Party caucus will decide on who replaces Seig on county council. Ripley County clerk of courts and local GOP chairwoman Ginger Bradford said the caucus will take place in coming weeks.
