Rev. Cutter, Who Served God And His Community, Dead At 86

Over nearly four decades, Arnold John Cutter led hundreds of services at Methodist churches in Ohio and Switzerland counties.

(Dillsboro, Ind.) - Reverend Arnold John Cutter touched a lot of lives in southeastern Indiana.

The Methodist minister, Korean War veteran, and community supporter died Sunday, September 16 at Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg. Cutter, a resident of Dillsboro, was 86.

After graduating from Vevay High School in 1949, Cutter served in the Korean War as a truck driver from 1952 until 1954. He then returned home and got a job as a meat cutter, then later at Schenley Distillery in Lawrenceburg.

In 1974, Arnold felt the call to ministry. He became a Methodist minister and over the next 39 years would lead services at churches across Ohio and Switzerland counties. According to his obituary, Cutter officiated over 400 funerals and 150 weddings.

In addition to serving the Lord, Cutter served his community. He was elected to the Switzerland County School Board and was president of the Friendly Seniors Civic Club.

Cutter was awarded the Dearborn Community Foundation’s Heart of Gold award in 2008. Arnold and his wife of 63 years, Annette, were the Dillsboro Homecoming Festival King and Queen in 2005.

Visitation for Arnold Cutter will be Wednesday, September 19 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay.

Services will take place Thursday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m. Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at his final resting place at Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro.
