(Batesville, Ind.) - A sizable expansion for Hill-Rom in Batesville is getting support from the city.

On Monday, Batesville City Council unanimously passed two resolutions to start the process of approving tax abatements for the company at the Ritter Plant and the Hill-Rom Innovation Center, The Batesville Herald Tribune reports.

The abatement which already has the backing of the Batesville Economic Development Commission is a 10-year, 30-percent tax abatement on real property.

Hill-Rom’s planned $4.3 million investment is expected to come with 35 new engineering jobs at the expanded innovation center. The new hires could be in place by mid-year. The Ritter Plant in Batesville would receive upgrades.

A public hearing on the proposed tax abatement will take place at the next Batesville City Council meeting in February.
