(Indianapolis, Ind.) - The Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs will meet Tuesday at the Statehouse to discuss employment challenges facing military personnel and their spouses who hold occupational licenses, according to State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg).

Frye said the committee will take a closer look at licensure policies and practices that could affect military personnel and their spouses who transition to Indiana.

“Military families often move from state to state,” said Frye, chair of the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs. “Obtaining a new professional license in each new state can be a long, arduous process and sometimes costly. The licensing issuance and renewal process that the committee is looking into for military personnel and their spouses could help take some of that stress away.”

According to Frye, the committee will also be looking at how professional training and education gained during service could be used by veterans and military personnel to obtain a professional license in Indiana.

The Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, in Room 404 at the Statehouse. Frye said the public is welcome to attend the meeting and testify.
