The event happens September 20th in Osgood.

(Osgood, Ind.) - The Ripley County Community Foundation, through its Ripley Youth Outreach program, is excited to announce the return of its chalk art competition, Chalktoberfest, back for a 6th year! This year’s event will take place on Saturday, September 20 in conjunction with Bricktoberfest in Osgood. For the first time ever, the competition is open to artists of all ages.

Launched in 2020, Chalktoberfest was created to encourage creative expression and celebrate the artistic talents of local students. Over the years, the event has become a fun community tradition, drawing spectators and participants alike to enjoy a morning of local artistic talent.

The 2025 theme, “Around the World,” challenges artists to explore global cultures, landmarks, and ideas through chalk murals. To celebrate the growing interest in the event, Chalktoberfest will now include three divisions: Middle School, High School, and Adult, opening the door for even more creativity.

In addition to the competition, the Batesville Area Arts Council is joining Chalktoberfest as a proud sponsor and will bring an exciting community mural to the event. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to stop by, pick up a piece of chalk, and help color in this collaborative artwork as they walk through the event.

Registration is now open, and we encourage local artists to secure their spots soon, as space is limited to 15 participants. There are exciting prizes up for grabs, with cash awards for the top three junior high, high school, and adult winners.

Event Details:

  • · Date: Saturday, September 20
  • · Location: South Walnut Street, Osgood
  • · Time: 10:30AM – 2:30PM
