(Ripley County, Ind.) - The Ripley County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that it has awarded $12,000 in grants to combat food insecurity. These grants are in response to the growing need for assistance in the community.

According to data from Feeding America, Ripley County saw a notable increase in food insecurity, with over 4,000 residents being unsure when they will have their next meal – a rise of 190 people from the previous year.

The Ripley County Community Foundation’s Board of Directors recognized the critical role of food pantries in our communities and acted on its mission to enrich the quality of life in Ripley County. This grant also serves as a token of gratitude for the dedication volunteers who not only administer the food pantries but who are also available to open the pantry to an individual or family in a time of emergency. Their selflessness ensures that the community has a reliable safety net, no matter the circumstance.

The following food pantries received grants from the Ripley County Community Foundation:

  • Batesville Food Pantry
  • Fishes & Loaves
  • Ripley County Food Pantry
  • Raider Pantry
  • Holton Food Pantry
  • Sunman Food Pantry
  • Feed My Sheep
  • Milan Food Pantry

“The Ripley County Community Foundation is committed to promoting the health & well-being of our communities,” stated Amy Streator, Executive Director, Ripley County Community Foundation. “These grants are a direct way that our foundation can support our neighbors and the invaluable work of those who ensure that no one goes hungry.”

This initiative is a powerful example of how the Ripley County Community Foundation is Connecting People Who Care with Causes that Matter! The community foundation will host its Annual Day of Giving on Friday, November 7th. All gifts made to endowed funds on November 7th will be eligible to receive a match of $0.50 for every $1 donated, not to exceed $5,000 per fund. The Day of Giving is the perfect time to donate to the local cause closest to your heart and enrich the quality of life of our neighbors.
