(Batesville, Ind.) - For 40 years, Race Across America (RAAM) has been challenging ultra cyclists from around the globe to push their physical and mental limits to the farthest reaches.

The current edition of RAAM started on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in Oceanside, California and will end on Chesapeake Bay, an estuary of the Atlantic Ocean, in Annapolis, Maryland.

The race will cover roughly 3,000 miles with over 179,000 feet of climbing, while passing through 12 states.

Some cyclists have already completed the race while others are preparing to pass through Indiana in the coming days. The route will follow State Road 46 through Columbus, Greensburg and Batesville before traveling north on State Road 229 into Franklin County.

The route will continue along Saint Mary Road into Brookville.

Motorists are advised to be on the lookout for cyclists on the roadways in the coming days.
