Purdue University Extension To Host Inaugural Agriculture Outlook

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - On March 9, Purdue University Extension will host an Agriculture Outlook at Agner Hall, located on the county fairgrounds in Lawrenceburg. The purpose of the event is to provide farmers, county officials, business professionals, and more with an in-depth look at local agriculture.

Keynote speaker for the event will be Sarah Jordan of LUXE Real Estate. Jordan has a positive reputation in the Southeast Indiana agricultural and real estate markets and will share her thoughts on the state of the industry. Several key partners have signed on to the event, including the Dearborn County Soil and Water Conservation District, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Farm Bureau, and Farm Service Agency.

The event will begin at 10am on March 9 and be offered in-person and virtually, streaming live on Zoom and Facebook. Light refreshments will be offered to those attending in-person. Due to safety guidelines, in-person attendance will be limited.

Agriculture is a multi-million dollar industry in Dearborn County. According to the most recent report from the USDA, farm income in Dearborn County totals more than $16.1 million. In 2019, more than 9,000 acres of soybeans and 5,000 acres of corn were planted. Local farmers markets have experienced strong growth and the county ranks eighth in total pastureland, providing forage for over 6,000 head of cattle.
